TrustedID, which was founded in Redwood City, California in 2005 by Scott Micit, former Fair Issac vice president, and Omar Ahmad, former Napster CEO, offers comprehensive, pro-active identity theft protection for both individuals and families. Scott and Omar were inspired to form TrustedID because they were tired of watching consumers being taken advantage of by credit bureaus whose main agenda was selling consumers' personal data rather than protecting it. TrustedID offers one main product, IDFreeze, and an additional add-on, CreditLock, which was the first of its kind to freeze clients' credit scores upon request.

TrustedID's IDFreeze plans allow customers to safeguard themselves against credit problems, including identity theft, before they even happen. IDFreeze flags any sort of fraudulent activity, scans social security numbers, bank account numbers and credit cards, and monitors medical benefits in addition to other features. Additional Features

CreditLock, an optional add-on to IDFreeze, offers maximum identity security by freezing customers' credit scores so that credit bureaus are unable to distribute them to third parties. This stops identity thieves in their tracks because, unless creditors have access to credit scores, they cannot grant new credit to anyone. The only disadvantage is that CreditLock requires some planning, so if customers are applying for a loan or new credit card, they cannot do so until their credit is unlocked.

Customers can cancel their subscriptions 24/7 by using TrustedID's toll-free customer service number. However, cancellations cannot be made by email. Monthly subscribers do not receive any refunds for partial months, but their credit cards will not be charged for subsequent months. Annual subscribers will receive a 50% refund, but cancellations must be made within the first 180 days. After that time, subscribers' annual fees are non-refundable. Additionally, all CreditLock fees are non-refundable.
